Saadia Mirza A/W’09 Velocity Collection Sets Season’s Style Quotient High!

Fashion designer Saadia Mirza, the couturier known for her opulent creations, showcased her latest Autumn/Winter Prêt a Porter collection under her label Velocity. Launched in 2006 Velocity introduces two seasonal collections each year and this season paid homage to a diversity of influences and inspirations including:

The Bohemian Influence: These pieces consisted of printed fabrics incorporating screen and digital printing.

The Glitterati Effect:  an evening line with emphasis on crystal embellishments.

Tripunto: focused on embroidered detailing reflecting the imperial era in its stitching details.

The Naurattan Line: showcased white outfits with multi coloured embroidery
The Empress: depicted the regal and more formal line with rich embroideries with a style emphasis on embellished jackets.

In essence, the Velocity silhouette this season introduced flowy structures with details found in pleating, puckering and fringes. The house of Saadia Mirza based this Autumn/Winter line on versatile fabrics including raw silks, chiffons and georgettes with detailed texturing, printing and embellishments. This Autumn/Winter Velocity collection was showcased at Saadia Mirza’s flagship boutique in Lahore by models Noorey, Sabina Pasha, Fia, Ayyan, Tania and Uzma in a boutique show choreographed by Rezz Aly Shah with styling by Maram & Aabroo.

The event itself was managed by Aamir Mazhar with the Punjab Governer’s wife and Lahore’s veritable fashion patron Aaminah Taseer in attendance as chief guest wearing a Saadia Mirza Velocity creation. Also in attendance were style duo Athar and Shahzad, Stylists Khawer Riaz and Asmaa Mumtaz, models Cybil and Natasha Hussain, Designers Honey Waqar & Munib Nawaz, Jewellry designer Bushra Aftab,  entrepreneur Nina Akbar, Mehrbano Sethi of Luscious Cosmetics and Omar Satti of J&S. FESTIVALS

International Puppet Festival by Peerzadas

Peerzadas are here to stay. Lately, the Peer brothers are busy
in organizing an international puppet festival in the upcoming
months. The festival is scheduled to be held in March and
Puppeteers from across the globe are expected to be there.
Performances by puppeteers from Italy, Iran, Bangladesh,
and Sri Lanka will be taking place this year.

The festival will be held with the same zeal and giving off
the same passionate vibes and anticipation, except for one
change - the venue for the event will be different this year. The festival will take place at the Museum of Puppetry on Raiwand Road, instead of Cultural Complex near Qadhafi Stadium.

Also, it is being said that the festival will also host inauguration of the Art and Craft village that will have 22 studios. This village will be set up in the premises of the Museum of Puppetry. This project is infact a joint venture with Royal Norwegian Embassy. Various artists from all corners of Pakistan would work with their equivalents residing in Lahore.

This workshop will showcase and sell different crafts such as camel hide products, carving, ceramics, woodwork, paper craving, leather work and all the other special crafts work of Pakistan.

As, the festival is bringing along many other events, among them inauguration of an art gallery holds importance too. According to Faizan Peerzada, it will help promote the work of the young talent of our country, who otherwise cannot afford to hire commercial galleries for displaying their work

Almost all of you must be preparing yourself carefully to welcome the summer season.

One of the very essential steps of protecting your skin is to protect it from the ultra violet sun rays. So try to apply some good quality sun block before going out, or use the lotions & creams those contain sun screen treatment. You can also protect your skin from damaging (sun sports or dark complexion) by using moisturizer that contains SPF factor of 15 or more; on daily basis. You should do cleansing regularly at least twice in a day and you can also use the moisturizer before starting make-up. Apply the moisturizer and leave it for some time to observe gently and then apply foundation.

Do not try to apply heavy bases and foundations, as they make you to give intense look. Use lighter foundation or base with a damp sponge. A slight touch of concealer under the eye can add glow. Grandeur  Calligraphy  Exhibition

On 5 September 2009, Karachiites witnessed a Calligraphy
Exhibition @ Grandeur owned by Neshmia Nadeem,
showcase some of the inspiring Paintings by well known
Personalities like Mashkoor Raza, Akram Spaul, Nazir
Ahmad, Naseem Nishofoze, A.S. Rind, Mansoor Salim,
Sadeqain, Ahmad Khan, Irfan Ahmad Qureshi, M. Ali
Zahid, Ghulam Murteza.

The paintings showed inscribed verses of Holy Quran
and the painting also tells us how an artist could use his
imaginative powers to create such marvelous masterpieces.
The calligraphy was done on white canvas with traditional
colors and remarkable techniques.

Those who attended the exhibition were Frieha Altaf, Nazneen Tariq, Lubna Haroon, Sheji Kazmi, Tabinda Chinoi, Shobha Isphani etc. And people from all walks of life who appreciated their efforts with expectations of more quality and joie de vivre. Calligraphy Exhibition PR was done by Catalyst (Sister concern Catwalk Productions) supervised by Frieha Altaf.

Sobia Nazir’s Exhibition of “Spring Summer Lawn Prints Collection 2009”

In Karachi, the exhibition’s media launch was held on 11th
March at Marriot Hotel and people thronged into the
exhibition especially women from all walks of life. Iraj

and Fouzia wore Sobia’s prêt lawn and were busy interacting with visitors and passing their smiles to cameras which were brilliantly captured by Kohi Marri and a successful PR done by Asif Abdul Razzak @ Catalyst (sister concern Catwalk Productions) supervised by Frieha Altaf.

The colors and print of the lawn highly impressed the visitors and affordable prices ranging from 1690to 2790 was a loot sale on the first day to grapple the exceptional designs of the Islamabad based designer.

Unspoken Revelations (Photography Exhibition)

On March 1, 2009, Karachiites witnessed a photography

exhibition @ Grandeur owned by Neshmia Nadeem,
showcase some of the inspiring pieces captured by
upcoming photographers Humayon Memon, Rida Khokhar
, Talha Asim Wynne.

Some of the pieces displayed for exhibition were well
captured and remarkably exposed through their lenses,
from old monuments, buildings to highlighting different
human sublimes and religion.

Those who attended the exhibition were Ameen J, Auj,
Frieha Altaf, Saara Tahir, Mr and Mrs Feroz Virani, Nazneen Tariq, Haseeb Pirzada, Yawar Halai, friends and families of the promising talents along with art lovers and people from all walks of life who appreciated their efforts with expectations of more quality and joie de vivre.

Pakistan's Art Exhibition in Dubai.

Exhibition of the master pieces of Pakistan's most
famous, creative and ground breaking artistes in
Dubai.

The event is organized by Basta Art, in association
with villano6.com. The exhibition will last for 15 day
started on 1st November, 2008 at Basta Art Café
and Gallery in Bastakiya, Dubai.

Creative director of villano6.com added here that

The exhibition features a wide range of latest Pakistani art, including renowned names like Sarfraz Mussawir, Seemab Tariq and many more.

Also this exhibition is putting forward some new names like Junaid Sajid and Shazia Salman. Both of them have established themselves in Pakistan and now they are being exhibited in Dubai as well.

Farrah, gallery director of Basta Art also showed her excitement by mentioning the excellence of the art of Pakistani artistes. She further mentioned that 'Basta has showcased contemporary Pakistani art before but this exhibition brings an exciting mix of artists with a wide range of styles. The audience will be introduced to work that is not only beautiful but epitomizes the type of art that is generating great excitement in the art market in Pakistan'

PWO Talent Exhibition

A one-day exhibition to demonstrate the talent of
local youth in designing was held on November 22,
at the Crystal hall, Pearl Continental Lahore. It was
organised by the Pakistan Women' Organisation.

The PWO Talent Exhibtion featured the innovative

designs of Pakistan's young ladies, many of which have
established their names in local and overseas market.
Designer party wear & kurtay (stitched & unstitched), hand decorated items such as gift boxes, bakets, pouche, home decor items, album decoration, accessories are some of the items that were showcased in this exhibition
